1. What inspired you to join TRG, and what excites you most about your new role?

I was looking for a change of environment and the opportunity to work with new people and a different culture, which led me to join TRG. What excites me most about my role is the variety it offers. No two days on site are ever the same, which keeps the work engaging and provides new challenges and learning opportunities every day.

2. Can you share a bit about your professional background and experience in the industry?

I began my career in the tyre industry at 16 years old, completing work experience at a small tyre shop in Myaree. From there, I pursued various opportunities within the industry, building my knowledge and skills through hands-on experience. Over the years, I have worked across a wide range of tyre applications, from light vehicles through to heavy earthmoving and agricultural equipment, giving me a well-rounded understanding of the industry.

3. What motivated you to pursue a career in OTR Tyre Management?

I was looking for a career that offered FIFO opportunities and allowed me to spend more quality time with my family. As FIFO roles are limited in the retail tyre sector, I made the move into OTR tyre management and have never looked back. The industry has provided great opportunities for career growth, continuous learning, and the chance to work on a wide variety of equipment and sites.

4. How do you usually spend your day-to-day at work?

My day-to-day responsibilities include tyre inspections, tyre change-outs, setting up safe work zones, and assisting the maintenance team where required. I enjoy the variety that comes with the role and working closely with different crews across the site. Outside of work hours, I make the most of the site facilities, particularly the gym, as staying active and maintaining my fitness is something I really enjoy.

5. What do you hope to achieve or accomplish during your time with TRG?

My goal is to continue developing my skills and experience within the industry, with the aim of progressing into a Supervisor role in the future. I enjoy working as part of a strong team and would love the opportunity to help build and mentor a crew that works well together. Ultimately, I want to contribute to TRG’s success while creating opportunities for others and fostering a positive team culture on-site.

6. Can you describe a project or achievement from your previous experience that you’re particularly proud of?

One achievement I’m particularly proud of was during a busy night shift when we had a large number of dump truck tyre change-outs and puncture repairs that needed to be completed. With equipment requiring attention across multiple areas, I stepped up into a Statutory Supervisor role, coordinating the workload, delegating tasks, and supporting the crew where needed. Through effective teamwork and communication, we successfully completed all scheduled work safely and efficiently within the shift.

7. What attracted you to TRG as an employer, and what sets it apart from other companies in the industry?

What attracted me to TRG was its strong focus on work-life balance, fair remuneration, and positive team culture. The company genuinely values its people and understands the importance of family time. What sets TRG apart is the support from both management and colleagues. Everyone looks out for one another, creating a workplace where you feel valued, respected, and supported.

8. What’s your favourite piece of equipment or gear to work with?

My favourite piece of equipment to work with is the tyre handler. It’s a versatile machine that plays a critical role in safely handling large tyres, and I enjoy operating it. Driving the tyre handler is both rewarding and enjoyable, and it’s a great piece of equipment to have on site.

9. Do you have a work “superpower” – something you’re really good at on site?

I would say my work superpower is leadership. People often come to me when they need guidance or support, and I enjoy helping them work through challenges and find solutions. I take pride in leading by example, providing direction when needed, and supporting my teammates to achieve the best outcomes safely and efficiently.

10. Who’s the most interesting or inspiring person you’ve met at TRG?

The most inspiring person I’ve met during my time at TRG is Brent Gilmore. My previous Site Supervisor at Flying Fish, he provided valuable guidance and support through a range of challenges in both my professional and personal life. His leadership, experience, and willingness to help others had a significant impact on me, and over time, he has become not only a mentor but also a close friend.

11. What’s one skill or trick you’ve learned at TRG that you’re proud of?

One achievement I’m particularly proud of is completing a year as part of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and then going on to achieve my Certificate III in Tyre Rescue. It’s an area that really interests me because it allows me to help people in challenging situations while developing skills outside of my day-to-day tyre fitting responsibilities. It has broadened my knowledge, built my confidence, and given me the opportunity to contribute to site safety in a different way.

12. What’s the most challenging or rewarding job you’ve worked on with TRG?

The most challenging and rewarding project I’ve worked on with TRG is my current site, McPhee Creek. Being involved in a new project from the ground up has presented a range of challenges, particularly with limited resources and the need to establish systems and processes as the operation develops. At the same time, it’s been incredibly rewarding to contribute to building something from the start and to see the site continue to grow and progress.

13. Is there anything else you’d like to share with the TRG community or LinkedIn audience about yourself or your aspirations?

One quote that has always stuck with me was shared by an experienced colleague:

“Maybe old dogs can still teach old dogs new tricks.”

I think it’s a great reminder that no matter how long you’ve been in the industry, there is always something new to learn and someone you can learn from. I try to approach every day with an open mind, continue developing my skills, and take every opportunity to learn from those around me.
