Role overview

We are seeking an experienced, proactive Training Manager to lead our vocational training and workforce development activities within Tyre Response Group’s Registered Training Organisation (RTO). You will design, deliver and manage nationally recognised training and assessment programs relevant to tyre servicing, heavy-vehicle safety, workplace health and safety, and customer service. The role combines operational training delivery, compliance with the Training Accreditation Council  Western Australia (TACWA), continuous improvement of learning products, and leadership of trainers and assessors across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the RTO training function: oversee program delivery, assessment, trainer/assessor allocation and continuous improvement of training products.
  • Ensure compliance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 and ASQA requirements, maintaining training documentation and evidence for audits.
  • Develop, review and map training packages, accredited units of competency and custom courses relevant to tyre servicing, heavy-vehicle maintenance and related workplace health and safety (WHS) topics.
  • Design and deliver engaging, competency-based learning using blended approaches (classroom, practical workshops, on-the-job training and e‑learning).
  • Manage trainer and assessor recruitment, professional development, competency matrices and performance.
  • Create and maintain assessment tools, training resources, validation and moderation schedules.
  • Monitor student records, competency completion, compliance with funding/contract requirements and issue escalation.
  • Liaise with industry stakeholders, employers and clients to ensure training aligns with workplace needs and industry standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement through training needs analysis, evaluation of training effectiveness and management reporting.
  • Oversee health, safety and environmental (HSE) training and ensure safe systems of work for practical training activities.
  • Manage budgets, scheduling and resource allocation for training delivery across sites.

Selection criteria — Essential

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent) — mandatory for RTO trainers and assessors.
  • Excellent knowledge of workplace health and safety (WHS/OHS) practices relevant to mechanical workshops and roadside operations.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, including mentoring and capability development of trainers and assessors.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with industry, clients and regulatory bodies.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills and competency with student management systems (SMS), learning management systems (LMS) and Microsoft Office.
  • Current driver’s licence; willingness to travel to regional sites as required.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience managing or leading training in an RTO environment, including compliance with TACWA / ASQA and the Standards for RTOs.
  • Strong technical understanding of tyre servicing, heavy-vehicle wheel and tyre systems, or closely related mechanical/vehicle maintenance experience (industry certificates, trade qualification or equivalent experience).
  • Experience developing and delivering nationally recognised training packages, assessment tools and validation/moderation processes.
  • Advanced diploma or diploma in a relevant field (mechanical, automotive, vocational education, business or HSE).
  • Experience with funding contracts, traineeships/apprenticeships, competency-based qualifications in the Automotive Industry Retail, Service and Repair Training Package (or similar).
  • Experience as a Registered Training Organisation compliance contact or audit lead.
  • Current First Aid and specific heavy-vehicle safety/course-related certificates.

Qualifications and Compliance

  • Must hold Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or current equivalent).
  • Proof of relevant trade qualifications, industry experience or vocational credentials.
  • National Police Check and right to work in Australia.
  • Current driver’s licence and evidence of fitness for field-based training tasks.
