1. Can you tell us a bit about your journey and what brought you to TRG?

I have been in the tyre industry for 40+ years with over 30 years in the mining OTR sector. I’ve worked all through Australia and South Africa from tyre fitting to training to supervising. An opportunity arose to join TRG when it was still in its early days and I am now currently working as a Site Supervisor at Roy Hill.

2. What are your main responsibilities in your current role at TRG?

As a Site Supervisor, I run the day-to-day operations along with the other site supervisors. My main roles are running the background work and supporting my crew to try to better their experience and knowledge.

3. How would you describe your leadership style?

My leadership style is having a calm and approachable nature, trying to find the best in people and safety focus is paramount.

4. What approaches do you take to develop a positive and productive team environment?

The approaches I take are to find the strengths and weaknesses of people and then develop their skills and pass on all the knowledge I have to them.

5. What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your role, and how did you overcome them?

Running a big site like Roy Hill is a challenge in itself as this is my first time running such a big site. The challenges are workload and managing different styles of people. All in all, it betters you as you can overcome challenges and learn from them.

6. How do you stay updated with industry trends and innovations?

I stay updated by listening and collaborating with other people in my industry as in the tyre industry you never stop learning.

7. What are your personal and professional growth goals at TRG?

I am very happy in the role that I am in being a Site Supervisor and going forward I would like to help grow TRG as much as I can.

8. What advice would you give to someone aspiring to take on a management role in this industry?

My advice would be to always look for the positives and seek advice when needed.

9. How do you manage work-life balance in a demanding role?

When you’re at work it’s work and when you’re at home it’s home life, you switch off and spend time with family and friends.

10. What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of work?

I enjoy diving, target shooting and my motorbikes (Harleys)
