In this edition of Meet the TRG Team, we’re introducing Jophiel Roskam, who joined Tyre Response Group two months ago and is already making a strong contribution to the team. With a background in the New Zealand Army and experience managing teams in high-pressure environments, Jophiel brings discipline, resilience, and a safety-first mindset into his role in OTR tyre management. In this Q&A, he shares what drew him to TRG, how he’s developing his technical and analytical skills, and why TRG’s culture and family-friendly roster make it the right place to build a long-term career.
1. What inspired you to join TRG, and what excites you most about your new role?
I was drawn to TRG by the combination of opportunity and culture. The company’s reputation for growth and professionalism really stood out to me. What excites me most is joining a team that’s continually moving forward and being given the chance to build on my skills in tyre management while contributing to the business’s ongoing success.
2. Can you share a bit about your professional background and experience in the industry?
I served in the New Zealand Army for five years, joining at the age of 21. During that time, I managed small teams in fast paced environments and worked within the logistics regiment, providing catering support for hundreds of soldiers. This experience helped me develop strong discipline, resilience, and leadership skills that I’ve carried into my career today.
3. What motivated you to pursue a career in OTR Tyre Management?
I was looking for a career that combined hands on work with technical problem solving, and tyre management offered exactly that. It’s a challenging and dynamic field, and I enjoy the balance between practical work and technical analysis.
4. How do you plan to contribute to TRG’s mission and goals in your new role?
I plan to contribute by being reliable, safety focused and consistently present for my team. I want to support my colleagues with a positive approach, build strong working relationships and add value by deepening my knowledge in tyre analysis and technical data. My goal is to be someone the team can count on while contributing to the overall success of the business.
5. What do you hope to achieve or accomplish during your time with TRG?
I aim to develop into a well-rounded tyre management professional with strong technical knowledge and analytical skills. My goal is to be a reliable team member who adds value both technically and culturally, contributing to TRG’s ongoing success.
6. Can you describe a project or achievement from your previous experience that you’re particularly proud of?
I’m proud of completing my Certificate II in Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology, which gave me a strong foundation and reinforced my commitment to building a career in this industry. On a personal level, I value the 2 on/2 off roster, as it allows me to balance work with personal goals such as continuing my studies and training for a marathon.
7. What attracted you to TRG as an employer, and what sets it apart from other companies in the industry?
TRG’s reputation for professionalism and growth was a key factor in my decision. The 2 on/2 off roster also stood out, as it offers a family-friendly balance that’s important to me—especially as my wife and I plan to start a family soon. That focus on supporting both career development and personal life really sets TRG apart in the industry.
8. How do you plan to collaborate with your new colleagues and team members at TRG?
I plan to be approachable, proactive, and respectful in all interactions. I make an effort to connect with colleagues beyond just the tasks at hand, understanding their strengths and interests. This approach helps build stronger teams and creates a more enjoyable and productive workplace.
9. What do you hope to learn or develop professionally while working at TRG?
I want to deepen my knowledge in tyre management, tyre analysis, and technical data. Gaining a strong understanding of the figures behind tyre life and performance is something I’m eager to master, as it will enable me to contribute more strategically to TRG’s operations and success.
10. Is there anything else you’d like to share with the TRG community or LinkedIn audience about yourself or your aspirations?
I bring a strong background in leadership and resilience from my Army service, combined with two years of experience in OTR tyre management. I’m committed to growing with TRG, contributing to its success, and building a career that balances professional development with family life.
